Attendee list visibility
Whether the Luma event host has made the guest list publicly visible. The single highest-leverage decision a host can make for serious attendees - and the only event property a research tool can never override.
Attendee list visibility is the Luma setting that controls whether the guest list is shown publicly, only to registered attendees, or hidden entirely. Hosts can change it at any time. It is the single biggest factor in whether the event becomes a deliberate channel for attendees or stays a black box until the moment they walk in.
Three modes:
- Visible to anyone. Anyone with the event URL sees the list. Best for serious attendee prep.
- Visible to registered attendees only. You see the list after RSVPing. Still workable - you just need to commit before scoping.
- Hidden. No public access. Tools like FindMyICP cannot see it. Attendees go in blind.
The good news: most Luma hosts default to visible, especially for tech-aligned events. The hosts who hide lists are usually doing so for privacy with high-profile attendees or for invite-only confidentiality.
If a list is hidden and you genuinely care about the event, message the host directly. Frame it as serious prep: "Hey - I'm planning to come prepared for Thursday and would love to see who else is RSVPed if possible. Happy to keep it confidential." About 60-70% of hosts will unhide on request, especially if they recognize you're a serious attendee.
